*A new West End play has set aside two nights expressly for theatergoers who “identify” as Black, offering them the opportunity to experience the “Slave Play” production “free from the white gaze.”

Here’s what EUR’s Oliva T previously wrote about “Slave Play,” written by American playwright Jeremy O Harris“Hailed as “the single most daring thing I’ve seen in a theater in a long time” by Wesley Morris of The New York Times and “a fascinating explosive-device of a play” by Peter Marks of The Washington Post, “Slave Play” takes place at the MacGregor Plantation, where nothing is as it seems, and yet everything is as it seems. It’s an antebellum fever dream as three interracial couples converge to rip open history at the intersection of race, love, sex, and sexuality in 21st-century America.”

“Slave Play” will run at the Noël Coward Theatre in London from June 29 to September 21, and co-star Kit Harington (Game of Thrones).

According to the UK Independent, two nights have been dubbed “Black Out” nights for an “all-Black identifying audience” on July 17 and September 17.

Quick question for Jeremy O Harris if you’re reading this… what does “Black identifying” mean? Can a white trans woman show up on “Black Out” night, claiming she identifies as a Black woman named Zora Kinte, and be allowed to purchase tickets? In this transhumanism/transgender/transracial society that fringe progressives are urging us to embrace, how do we determine who is “Black identifying” when anyone can be anything they imagine themselves to be in this new-age 21st Century?

Meanwhile, Harris told BBC Sounds he was “excited” about “Black Out” nights, stating: “It is a necessity to radically invite them in with initiatives that say, ‘You’re invited’. Specifically you.”

According to the Independent, the website for “Black Out” nights describes the initiative as: “The purposeful creation of an environment in which an all-Black-identifying audience can experience and discuss an event in the performing arts, film, athletic, and cultural spaces – free from the white gaze.”

“Slave Play” co-stars Olivia Washington, the daughter of Denzel Washington.
