*R. Kelly is pushing back against a judgment leveled against him in which multiple women were awarded $10.5 million in a lawsuit related to the screening of the docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly.”

We reportedly previously that six women were threatened for appearing in the docuseries, and last year, a judge awarded them a total of about $10.5 million from the disgraced R&B crooner and his former manager, Donnell Russell, according to TMZ.

EURs’s Cherie Saunders wrote, “… the women had sued Kelly and Russell for successfully shutting down a December 2018 screening of “Surviving R. Kelly” in New York City. They claimed Kelly’s team called producers on the night of the screening and said someone was “going to shoot up the place.”

As TMZ reports, citing a new lawsuit, Kelly claims Russell was never his manager, and if Russell made a mass shooting threat to stop the screening, “he did that for his own reasons.”

Kelly claims to have been unaware of the Aug. 2023 ruling favoring the six women.

Per EUR’s Cherie Saunders, “The judgment against Kelly and Russell means each of the 6 women should get anywhere between $1.1 million and $2.25 million. And despite R. Kelly being broke, the women may actually see some of that payment, as R. Kelly’s music is still generating revenue, according to TMZ.”

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the incarcerated artist said had he been aware of the lawsuit, he would have fought it.

R. Kelly claims he has become overwhelmed with legal matters and has changed his representation, so this particular lawsuit may have gone unnoticed.

Per TMZ, citing the court docs, Kelly said he relies upon his lawyers to keep him updated with legal matters, as he “cannot read or understand words beyond that of a grade-schooler.”

R. Kelly will spend the next 30 years in prison after being convicted of racketeering and multiple sex crimes.
