*The FBI is investigating New York City Mayor Eric Adams for receiving complimentary flight upgrades.
RadarOnline.com reports that Adams received complimentary upgrades from Turkish Airlines, elevating him to first-class status.
The New York Times reports federal investigators are scrutinizing Adams’s mayoral campaign, mainly focusing on free airfare upgrades. Adams is at the heart of a broader corruption inquiry involving his aides and a Turkish Airline executive, with investigators examining possible political favors in exchange for donations from Turkey.
Adams’ involvement with Turkish Airlines allegedly extends beyond typical customer interactions. In November, the feds raided the mayor’s home and seized his phones and electronic devices.
Per RadarOnline, “Investigators have also searched the homes of former Turkish Airline executive Cenk Öcal, as well as Adams’ top fundraiser Brianna Suggs and the mayor’s office director of protocol for international affairs, Rana Abbasova,” the outlet writes.
Investigators are reportedly examining whether Adams pressured the NYC fire department to expedite approval for the Turkish government’s high-rise consulate building in Manhattan. The building faced delays due to safety concerns regarding its operating certificate.
In related news, we reported earlier via CNN that a former NYPD aide is suing Adams, alleging he sexually assaulted her in 1993 while they both worked for the Transit Bureau when he demanded sexual acts in exchange for helping her get a promotion she was previously denied, according to the lawsuit.
The plaintiff in the lawsuit alleges that Adams, who at the time was working in the New York City Police Department’s transit division and was then with the Guardians Association, a fraternal order of the police department, used his position to proposition her.
The suit follows a summons filed in New York County Supreme Court in November under the state’s Adult Survivors Act. Adams denied the allegations and said he did not know the accuser.
