New Edition Joins NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame – Frankie Beverly Gets Lifetime Achievement Award

*The props keep coming for Grammy-nominated New Edition. The veteran R&B group is set to join the prestigious ranks of the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame during the 55th installment of the awards on March 16. The ceremony, known for its celebration of multicultural excellence, will be hosted by Queen Latifah.

The NAACP Image Awards aims to uplift values of equality, justice, and progressive change while honoring artists committed to these principles. Past inductees include Eddie Murphy, Stevie Wonder, Oprah Winfrey, and others.

Additionally (as reported by Variety), renowned R&B singer-songwriter Frankie Beverly will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award on March 14 for his significant contributions to civil and human rights alongside his impact on the entertainment industry.

Derrick Johnson, the president and CEO of the NAACP, expressed honor in celebrating New Edition and Frankie Beverly, acknowledging their enduring influence on Black excellence in the arts.

New Edition, one of the most successful male singing groups, has entertained audiences worldwide for over four decades. The group has sold over 30 million records and launched the solo careers of several members.

Frankie Beverly, known for his distinctive voice and timeless compositions, has left an indelible mark on R&B music with hits like “Golden Time of Day” and “Joy and Pain.”

The 55th NAACP Image Awards will be broadcast on March 16 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on BET and CBS.

In other news, New Edition has announced an extension of their residency, “New Edition: Las Vegas,” at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas with six additional shows in July 2024.

The residency, which began on February 28, 2024, has received enthusiastic responses from sold-out crowds, showcasing the group’s iconic hits and dance moves.

Tickets for the July shows will be available for purchase starting March 15, 2024, at 10 a.m. PT, with prices starting at $79.95 on Ticketmaster.com.
