*Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, attended the Royal Salute Polo Challenge to benefit Sentebale in Wellington, Florida, on April 12.
After the match, Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, snapped photos with players and their friends Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras and his wife, Delfina, at the Grand Champions Polo Club. The haters are outraged over footage circulating on social media of Markle refusing to let a Black woman, identified as the head of Sentebale, stand next to Harry for a picture to celebrate his polo team’s win.
As the woman attempts to stand beside Harry, Markle asks, “Do you want to come over here?” She smiles while motioning for the woman to stand on her left side instead.
One Instagram user commented, “Meghan could have moved a side and let the lady stand next to him but then meghan only thinks about herself and what she wants and is scared he is going to escape…” Another critic added, “Why did Meghan Markle push the beautiful Black lady around?”

Several supporters of the royal couple noted that Meghan did nothing out of the ordinary, as one user wrote, “Ok if people were to actually pay close attention and read the body language cues…instead of mindlessly believing the narrative that the media is feeding you, you would see that what she did there was actually give that lady the position of honour in the MIDDLE. The lady was not pushing herself in there so she went to the side…but if you notice Harry right arm was in the way because he was holding the 🏆. This made it awkward for her so Megan and the other lady GRACIOUSLY invited her to be in the middle of the two women while letting the men be on the sides.”
Another defender commented, “Yeah this narrative is absolutely ridiculous. The woman clearly felt awkward about where to stand, Meghan offered the clearly available empty space right next to her. Any speculation beyond that is so ridiculous and beyond petty.”

Meghan’s appearance in Florida was her first major public event since announcing a new business venture American Riviera Orchard.
The mother of two is also working on a cooking show for Netflix that will see her “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship,” according to the press release.
Additionally, Meghan signed a new podcast deal with Lemonada media.
“I’m proud to now be able to share that I am joining the brilliant team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting,” Markle said in a statement.
“Being able to support a female founded company with a roster of thought provoking and highly entertaining podcasts is a fantastic way to kick off 2024,” she continued. “Our plan to re-release Archetypes so that more people can now have access to it, as well as launching a dynamic new podcast are well in the works. I’m so eager to be able to share it soon, and am overjoyed to be joining the Lemonada family.”
