*Kodak Black will reportedly remain in federal prison in Florida after his drug possession charges were dismissed last week.

According to The Associated Press, the charge was dismissed on February 9 after prosecutors failed to “confirm, or refute, whether the rapper (real name Bill Kapri) had a prescription for oxycodone,” Hip Hop DX writes.

The rapper was allegedly in possession of oxycodone when he was arrested in December, which caused his bond in a separate federal matter to be revoked.

The rapper, whose real name is Bill Kahan Kapri, was also charged at the time with tampering with physical evidence and improperly stopping or parking his vehicle. He is currently housed at the Miami Federal Detention Center.

We reported earlier that the parole violation is related to a 2019 case in which the artist pleaded guilty to lying on a background check form when buying handguns. He was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison in 2019. Former President Donald Trump commuted his sentence just before he left office.

After his release, Kodak Black thanked Trump on his Twitter feed, writing: “I Want To Thank The President @RealDonaldTrump For His Commitment To Justice Reform And Shortening My Sentence. I Also Want To Thank Everyone For Their Support And Love. It Means More Than You Will Ever Know. I Want To Continue Giving Back, Learning And Growing. @DanScavino”.

After Trump commuted his sentence, Kodak Black was placed on a three-year probation period that reportedly expired in January 2024.

Meanwhile, Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, is also seeking to dismiss his client’s separate charge of tampering. Cohen hopes the dismissal will lead to Kodak Black’s release from the detention center.
