*The harassment case against Lizzo has been tossed out of court after a judge ruled she could not be sued personally.
Stylist Asha Daniels took legal action against the singer last year, alleging racial and sexual harassment, a hostile work environment, and unpaid overtime during the singer’s 2023 tour. A federal judge in Los Angeles determined that Lizzo could not be sued personally, instead identifying her touring and payroll companies as the employers of Daniels, Rolling Stone reports.
The claims against Lizzo and her tour manager were dismissed, but her company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., remains a defendant. The judge also dismissed claims related to Daniels’ work in Europe, citing the inapplicability of U.S. employment laws.
Lizzo’s spokesperson previosuly called the lawsuit a “publicity stunt.”
We reported earlier that Daniels filed the suit last September in a Los Angeles court against Lizzo and the supervisors of Big Grrrl Big Touring for sexual and racial harassment and disability discrimination. According to TMZ, Daniels said she joined Lizzo’s tour in 2023 to work in wardrobe and was subjected to inappropriate working conditions, including retaliation and assault.

According to the legal docs, Daniels, a Black woman, claims she was hired by Amanda Nomura, a member of Lizzo’s team who allegedly made “racist and fatphobic comments — allegedly calling Black women on the tour “dumb” “useless” and “fat,” TMZ writes.
Daniels alleges that the overall tour experience left her with ongoing anxiety and PTSD. She also suffers from “migraines, ocular distortions, brain fog and fatigue,” per TMZ.
Around this time last year, Lizzo’s legal team filed a motion to dismiss the discrimination lawsuit.
Daniels’ attorney, Ron Zambrano, previously said, “Lizzo and her lawyers can continue trying to rationalize her illegal and wretched conduct but we remain committed to seeking justice for our clients, and look forward to our day in court where Lizzo can explain her behavior in a public forum.”
