Exclusive Clip: George Clinton Reveals Song He’s Most Proud on Audible’s ‘Words + Music’ Series | Listen

*Musical legend George Clinton will take listeners through his decade-spanning career in volume #39 of Audible’s signature Words + Music series. 

We have an exclusive clip from the Audible Original, …And Your Ass Will Follow, which will debut to the public Friday, February 2, exclusively from Audible. In the teaser, Clinton speaks about the song he’s most proud of (“Knee Deep”).

Per Audible’s press release, “‘Words + Music’ shines a light on today’s most influential artists with original audio productions. Blending personal storytelling with never-before-heard performances, these musical narratives reflect the creative visions of a plethora of award-winning entertainers.”

Clinton “travels the rich cosmos of his musical history” in his episode, per the release. 

“From delivering milk to Sarah Vaughan on Avon Avenue, to embodying funk as we know it, Clinton examines his incongruous path from Motown to the Mothership,” the description continues. “Clinton’s experiences as the mastermind behind his bands Parliament and Funkadelic, and as the foremost authority on all things funk, make for a distinctive, humorous and thoughtful journey through modern music.”

The series features “exclusive live musical performances of favorites from Clinton’s catalog.” The music superstar “recounts the highs and highlights of his wild career, carving his own path, and soaking up all the universe has to offer along the way. All aboard the mothership,” the release states. 

Some of the musicians who have contributed to ‘Words + Music’ originals for Audible are John Legend, Beck, Pete Townshend, Eddie Vedder, Yo-Yo Ma, James Taylor, Patti Smith, Common, Smokey Robinson, Rufus Wainwright, Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper, Elvis Costello, Sting, Chuck D and many more.
