*Fat Joe condemned recent racist remarks made at a Donald Trump rally, where comedian Tony Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as “garbage.”
At Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Oct. 27, Hinchcliffe, 40, said, “I don’t know if you guys know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”
The rapper responded to the joke at an event focused on motivating Black and Brown men to vote, Hot 97 reports. Fat Joe expressed his view that Latino Trump supporters (especially Puerto Ricans) are “house n*ggas.”
“It breaks my heart,” the hip-hop star stated. “How the hell are they gonna call Puerto Rico, ‘An island of garbage,’ and when I post on my Instagram, ‘These the guys you voting for?’ and I see Puerto Ricans, ‘No, we’re still for Trump 2024, that’s that house n*gga mentality.”
Fat Joe added, “That’s a Latino that wishes he was white. Those [are] the guys in the comments…change their voice up [and] try to sound white…Those guys I been fighting my whole life.”
Meanwhile, Trump came to the defense of Hinchcliffe during an interview with Fox and Friends. The former president addressed the joke while also reiterating that he had not heard the comedian’s comments about Puerto Rico.
“Well, I guess somebody put on a comedian and he joked. He was a comedian. He joked. He mentioned Puerto Rico. And all of a sudden the Democrats. … So let me just tell, so, they come up, and a comedian put in early in the show, as a filler in all fairness. I guess he said some joke, I haven’t heard the joke, but he said some joke, and he mentioned Puerto Rico. All of a sudden they come out with something about Puerto Rico,” Trump said, according to The Washington Examiner.
“And they sort of stained it [the rally] a little bit by a comedian that, I have no idea who he is. He’s a man that was put there by very good people and well-meaning people. He mentioned Puerto Rico and they made it like a big deal,” he added.
