We reported via CNN that Green was suspended indefinitely following an on-court altercation in December. The 33-year-old was ejected during his team’s 119-116 defeat to the Phoenix Suns.

During the third quarter, while being guarded by the center, Green spun around and struck Sun’s player Jusuf Nurkić in the face with his right arm, dropping him to the ground.

The officials reviewed the incident and deemed it a flagrant 2 foul, which resulted in an automatic ejection from the game.

The Golden State Warriors star kicked the new year off by breaking his silence about the incident. As The Blast reports, Green noted that he’s considering retirement.

“There’s no surprise in what’s been going on with me this year. And I want to talk about those things,” he stated during the broadcast. “Number one: in coming back, in working my way back from the indefinite suspension that I’ve been serving, I’ll start from the beginning and just walk you through my process.”

Green added, “For starters, let’s go back to December 12. That date will be engraved in my mind for a while,” he added. “As I said then and I’ll say now, I was wrong. I was wrong regardless of what I was trying to do.”

According to CNN, Green initially asserted that the hit was accidental after the game.

“I am not one to apologize for things I mean to do, but I do apologize to Jusuf because I didn’t intend to hit him,” Green said after the game. “I was just selling the call because he was grabbing me and pulling my hip, so I spun away and, unfortunately, I hit him.”

At the time, the NBA star said it “takes into account Green’s repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.”

During his recent podcast episode, Green apologized to his family for his antics on-court.

“I am a guy who plays on the edge. I am a guy who walks right up to that line and I have no problem with admitting I have walked over that line. And for that, I apologize. I apologize to my family as they had to endure things that, as the leader of a family, you have to lead when it’s good, you have to lead when it’s bad as leader of anything. Very hard to lead when you’ve created the bad.”

After missing 14 games so far, Green is gearing up for a return to the court.

“I’m excited to get back with my teammates,” he said. “I’m excited to get back in the arena and do what I love to do, because not every day do people get to do what they love to do, and I want to do all that I can to not f— that up for me.”
