*Groundbreaking Entrepreneur Desreta Jackson has acquired the Historical Goodman-Stark House in Louisiana, MO. Jackson, best known for her role as young Celie in the iconic opening scene of “The Color Purple” original movie (1985) is the new owner of the historic home located in Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri.

The award-winning movie “The Color Purple” was Desreta’s introduction to entertainment. The intensity of the movie begins with the opening scene where two young girls are joyfully playing in the field of purple Cosmos only to reveal moments later that young Celie is pregnant with a child. In the movie, the character was portrayed as the underdog but proved to be someone who had the strength and intelligence to come out victorious in the end.

Much like the character, Jackson has the innate gift to see greatness and beauty in all things and she can use her creativity and brilliance to create a masterpiece out of what others may have simply overlooked.

This is a plan for Desreta’s latest endeavor, the purchase of the Goodman-Stark House, a two-and-a-half-story brick residence built on a terraced site on the bluffs of the Mississippi River in Louisiana, Missouri.

Being a veteran real estate developer Desreta rebuilt houses throughout the 1990s in Southern California providing various job opportunities for the community and has received awards and proclamations from the mayor of Los Angeles, Compton, and Inglewood. She had a long, successful run with that endeavor and continues to soar high with her accomplishments in all aspects of life and business.

Desreta is the CEO of her own real estate development firm and is committed to restoring the wonder of the Goodman-Stark landmark while retaining the home’s integrity.

In 2024 Desreta’s efforts will make the home a must-see for the town residents and any visitors that happen to visit Louisiana, Missouri.

Desreta is seeking to incorporate what some are referring to as her “Midas Touch” into this impressive historic mansion.

The Goodman-Stark house was designed by the architects Franklin, Wheeler, and Branson of St. Louis, and constructed in 1894. A classically inspired adaptation of the Queen Anne style, the Goodman-Stark House stands apart from the predominant architectural styles of the thriving 19th-century River town, whose notable homes range from antebellum residences to ornate Victorian. The house’s brick exterior incorporates three bays, its roofline is accentuated by an elaborate cornice molding, and the steeply pitched front-facing gable is punctuated by two pediment dormers and a large triangular gable dormer. The house possesses architectural integrity which is comprehensively documented through surviving floor plans, photographs, and building and remodeling records. The house retains its original exterior appearance, and the character of the house’s interior was substantially maintained over its 77 ‘ years of ownership by the Clarence Stark family.

Due to its rich history, in 1994, this house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is only fitting that such an iconic history-making businesswoman would take ownership of this historical landmark.

Desreta Jackson is a multi-talented individual who has achieved another milestone. She is not only a film director but also a natural hair expert and the CEO of BlackSilk, the first African American organic hair and skin care line. Mrs. Jackson’s hairline has received several proclamations, including a high honor from the United States Senate District.

Desreta is also the author of The Black Hair Conspiracy, a book that sits in a historic library as part of the renowned Smithsonian Museum.

The vision and work Desreta Jackson has planned for this new acquisition fits in perfectly with the town’s already established dynamic art community that also includes Hannibal and Clarksville and forms the 50 Miles of Art Corridor where artists and artisans create works of art that can’t be found anywhere else.

Stay tuned for updated advancements for this project.

Desreta is currently seeking documentary filmmakers, Contractors, and handy-persons from the local area who would like to be a part of the project archival process. Please submit interest in being a part of this history-making project to [email protected]
