David Oyelowo & Kaley Cuoco Dive into Marriage, Mystery & Mayhem in ‘Role Play’ | EURexclusiveWATCH

*In the upcoming film “Role Play,” Kaley Cuoco and David Oyelowo perform roles that defy expectations by offering a thrilling mix of mystery, marriage, and mayhem with an exciting dynamic. In an interview with EUR, the stars share insights into their characters. Cuoco gets into the unique experience of producing a film that pushes the boundaries of their usual roles.

“I think we both were excited that this was kind of a different roleplay and was a little bit of a role-reversal type of film,” said Kaley Cuoco. “We were doing things that we don’t normally do, especially jobs that David and I both take.”

Cuoco embraces the challenge of portraying Emma, a character with a double life. “This was exciting to kind of play the badass slash mom, who was taking control and doing all these crazy things,” she added. “David and I said a lot that we believe the message in this film is about the marriage and the relationship and, okay, this is a big mess up, and how do we get through this and love each other?”

For Cuoco, the thrill extended beyond the emotional dynamics of the plot. “I also loved that I got to do some of the stunts in the fight sequences. That was a really cool moment.”

Oyelowo, playing Emma’s husband, Dave, emphasizes the depth of trust that the characters must navigate as the plot unfolds. “When we meet them at the beginning of the movie, they’re seven years into this marriage, and they clearly love each other; they love their kids,” he explained. “But things have gotten a little stale, and they’re trying to shake things up slightly.”

As Emma’s secret life comes to light, Oyelowo delves into the mindset of his character. “I think you see at the beginning of the film that there’s enough love there, there’s enough dedication to each other, that it’s understandable why he decides to do everything he can to just get to the point where they can have a conversation about the craziness that’s going on.”

The actor emphasizes that “Role Play” is not just about saving a marriage but reaching the point where couples can confront life’s challenges.

“I think this film is partly about saving his marriage, but also getting to the point where they can go, ‘what’s going on,’ which I think every marriage hits that moment at some point or another,” he said.

“Role Play” debuts on Prime video January 12.
