*In an exclusive interview with David Ajala and Doug Jones, we explore the highly anticipated fifth and final season of “Star Trek: Discovery.”

As two integral cast members, Ajala and Jones share insights into their characters’ evolution and the journey to bringing the beloved series to its conclusion.

“I love the journey that Cleveland Booker is on,” Ajala told EUR exclusively.

“From end of season four, he has made some, quote, unquote, “questionable decisions.” And he’s had to deal with the consequences that come with making those decisions,” he added. “Cut to season five, he’s now in a position where he’s able to publicly redeem himself and find purpose within Starfleet. And that’s a really wonderful journey for him because you see how well he’s able to integrate himself and be effective.”

Jones said Saru gets to continue a romance with “President T’Rina, my Vulcan lady friend.”

Jones added, “And he gets to continue in that romance that began in season four, and he gets to continue with his career growth as well. He’s made a new offer in season five that is going to be hard for him to refuse. We’ll see what decision he makes with that.”

The series finale finds Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) “and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well … dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it,” per the official synopsis.

During our exclusive conversation with Martin-Green, she shared her emotional journey as she reflected on the final season.

“I feel grateful. I feel grateful that we were able to tell the story that we did over the course of the entire show, and then especially how we ended,” Martin-Green told us.

“I think that people will be moved. I think they’ll be touched. I think they’ll be satisfied, and I think that they will be left with hope. It’ll be the sort of final fragrance that they take in on the way out,” she added.
