Here is the schedule:
- Week of Feb. 2– “The Equalizer 3”
- Week of Feb. 9 – “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”
- Week of Feb. 16 – “The Color Purple”
- Week of Feb. 22 – “Soul”
AMC rolled out a similar program last year, Variety reported. The 2023 Black History Month screenings included “The Woman King,” “Devotion,” “Till,” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
“AMC has a long-standing commitment and track record of inclusive programming and initiatives that highlight diverse, creative talent behind the camera and on the big screen,” Elizabeth Frank, AMC’s executive VP of worldwide programming and chief content officer previously said, per Variety.
Frank added, “This programming initiative, which perfectly aligns with AMC’s inclusive programming, originated from the Council on the AMC African American Experience, an internal group of associates that strengthens AMC’s culture by defining opportunities to embrace diversity, lead with fairness and impartiality, and create a more inclusive work environment.”
According to Variety, AMC’s Black History Month screenings were inspired by a group of employees on the company’s African American experience council.
