A growing number of municipalities offer signing bonuses as high as $5,000, $7,000 and up to $20,000.
Why do they have to dangle this much money in front of people like a Pavlov dog to get them interested? People who might have thought about going into law enforcement are negatively affected by seeing videos of cops using unjustified deadly force against mostly Black and Brown people. They know the shit ain’t right. And they don’t want to be targets of retaliation. They don’t want to be associated with crooked ass cop behavior.Â
