Subway’s Flying ‘Blimp’ Will Serve Sandwiches 1,000 Feet in the Air

*Subway is offering customers a new dining experience 1,000 feet in the air. 

The sandwich chain revealed its Subway in the Sky” blimp: the ‘flying footlong’. As People reports, six guests can enjoy a meal beneath the 180-foot-long blimp.

“Here’s your chance to experience the heights Subway has reached since beginning our transformation journey in 2021,” Subway said in its promotional materials, per CNBC

The “flying footlong” took to the sky on Sept. 1 and will make stops in several cities, including Kansas City (Sept. 5-7), Atlanta (Sept 13-14), Orlando (Sept. 19-20) and Miami (Sept. 24 and 26), per People. There are up to 40 air rides per day for customers.

At an altitude of 1,000 feet, the blimp can carry up to seven passengers. Each trip lasts approximately 30 minutes, with flights taking place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Passengers will receive a lunchbox containing samples of the chain’s four new “Deli Hero” sandwiches.
