*Rickey Smiley called out Uber Friday in a video shared online in which he blasts a driver for discriminating against him.
In the video post’s caption, the comedian wrote, “Look y’all… Anyone else dealt with Uber #discrimination before?”
Smiley explains in the clip that the driver refused to let him into the vehicle due to his race.
“The Uber driver won’t drive me because I’m Black,” Smiley said in the video as he records the male Uber driver leaving the location.
“Just got denied Uber because I’m Black,” he added.

As Yahoo reports, a witness standing nearby explains to Smiley that this type of discriminatory Uber experience happens often to Black males in the area.
“I done got denied a couple times. Trying to go home sometimes, like, when I first started and didn’t get my bike, a couple of dudes… they pick it up, and then they see you,” said the unidentified Black male. “He didn’t even acknowledge you. He barely rolled down his window. They be doing that.”
In the comments of the post, Uber responded to Smiley. “Hi, Rickey — we have a zero-tolerance policy toward discrimination, and this is not okay. We’re so sorry this happened, and we are investigating this right away,” wrote a representative on Saturday (July 1).
One Twitter user also took to the comments to write, “Calling them out so they can lose their ability to work with the general public. Racism does not belong in the work force, gig jobs included.”
Another added, “Yeah I’ve had this happen to me plenty of times in fla but not anywhere else.”
A third Twitter user remarked, “Dear black people: A problem to be solved is how businesses are created. If Uber has a discrimination issue. Maybe God is encouraging someone who isn’t racist to compete with Uber offering a diversely inclusive experience/environment. Without minorities Uber can’t thrive.”
