*Patti LaBelle is the definition of a music legend. She still brings down the house, while continuing to demonstrate how it should be done.

So much so that today’s singing sensations come to LaBelle when they need advice.

“They do call me for information,” the “New Attitude” hitmaker shared during an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” while revealing her all-star list of advice seekers. “I’m the OG, I’m 79, and all my little girls like Ledisi and Fantasia and Ariana Grande and Beyoncé…they all call me for information about things they’re going through, that I’ve been through.”

“So, I hope that I can always give information to my babies. Because that’s what I do,” LaBelle added.

The entertainer’s revelation came amid honors she received at “CMT Smashing Glass: A Celebration of the Groundbreaking Women of Music,” according to Madame Noire. The event, which premiered in November, shined a light on women of all genres with a musical salute to, as CMT described “the incomparable women who smashed stereotypes, broke records and defiantly blazed trails for future generations of female artists.” In addition to LaBelle, “CMT Smashing Glass” recognized country legend Tanya Tucker and late music icons Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Sinead O’Connor.

Celebrating Turner and Franklin were Country singer Mickey Guyton, who sang Turner’s hit “The Best” and singer / “Glee” star Amber Riley, who performed Franklin’s 1967 timeless classic, “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.”

For LaBelle, the show was a chance to be acknowledged uniquely with R&B and Jazz singer Ledisi performing “New Attitude” and Country and first Black CMA-nominated duo The War and Treaty performing their rendition of her classic duet with Michael McDonald, “On My Own.” But it would not be Miss Patti without her stealing the show, which she did effortlessly. While performing “2 Steps Away,” LaBelle went all in with kicking off her heels and standing barefoot on the stage.

The occasion and the name of the event were ones LaBelle did not take for granted. Expressing her “To smash glass, it means to be on top, we women, we do it. It was amazing to be with other women who have smashed glass. For many years, we have not been recognized, so I was happy to be a part of it because we bust the glass, and we tear it down,” the “Lady Marmalade” vocalist expressed to Essence, acknowledging that she would be where she is now without Turner and Franklin.

“Those are the ladies that I’ve been with. Tina Turner died on my birthday, so I was so happy for the first four or five hours of my birthday. And when I heard about her, it just put a damper on my day. She was such a wonderful woman,” LaBelle explained. “Aretha Franklin and I, we talked about a year before she left about recording together, and just knowing that they believed in me and they love me. To still be here standing, I’m standing for them also.”
