*Fans of Mo’Nique are giving her the side-eye after she explained why she calls her husband “daddy,” claiming it’s because he is “raising her.”

“My husband, my best friend, my brother, he’s had all these hats. And, a lot of black women would say, ‘Why do you call him Daddy?’ Because he’s raising me. He’s raising me,” the 55-year-old comedian said about her hubby Sidney Hicks during a podcast appearance with Je’Niece McCullough, the daughter of the late comedian Bernie Mac, per Ace Showbiz.

Meanwhile, fans pointed out that Mo has “classic daddy issues.”

As Ace Show Biz reports, one person commented on Instagram, “Okay yeah no. This sounds like daddy issues because your husband should not be ‘raising’ you,” and “calling your man ‘daddy’ doesn’t seem weird until you explain it like this lol.”

“That ain’t ya damn daddy that’s your husband, he isn’t raising you Y’all are growing and learning together,” another person wrote.

“Ladies… go to therapy. Please don’t seek to “marry” your father bc of your childhood trauma, you deserve a healthy, appropriate, adult love,” added another user.

Another frustrated critic commented, “I’m sick of women in the black community with influence. From Jada to Chrisean to Monique.”

The Oscar-winning actress previously told The Hollywood Reporter that she and Hicks decided to end their open marriage, per Ace Showbiz.

“Life began to happen,” Mo’Nique told the publication. “I began to see a strength I had never seen before. He loved me at my worst. I didn’t want to sacrifice that just for a lay. So I grew out of that.”
