*A white male Marine veteran is being hailed a “hero” for choking out a mentally ill Black man on a subway in New York.

The media has not released the name of the 24-year-old male who placed passenger Jordan Neely, 30, in a chokehold after Jordan became aggressive at a subway station.

He later died at the hospital, authorities said.

The incident reportedly occurred Monday afternoon on a northbound F train in Manhattan. Freelance journalist Juan Alberto Vazquez witnessed the violent assault and detailed to the New York Post how Neely “started screaming in an aggressive manner” as he had “no food… no drink… and was tired and doesn’t care if he goes to jail.”

Vazquez continued: “He started screaming all these things, took off his jacket, a black jacket that he had, and threw it on the ground.”

A fellow passenger took Neely to the ground and choked him for about 15 minutes, according to Vazquez.

Vazquez recorded the incident and the three-and-a-half-minute clip reportedly shows Neely lying on the floor with the passenger’s arm wrapped around his neck.

The train’s conductor reportedly called authorities from the Broadway-Lafayette Street/Bleeker Street station. By the time police arrived, Neely had lost consciousness and subway workers were unable to revive him.

Neely, who is also a Michael Jackson impersonator (watch above), reportedly has a history of mental health issues and was transported to a local hospital where he died.

Autopsy results are pending while authorities investigate the circumstances of his death.

Vazquez said “None of us who were there thought he was in danger of dying. We thought he just passed out or ran out of air.”

The unnamed veteran was questioned by police and released without charges.

“NYC is not Gotham,” city Comptroller Brad Lander tweeted, the New York Daily News reports. “We must not become a city where a mentally ill human being can be choked to death by a vigilante without consequence. Or where the killer is justified & cheered.”
