*Jemele Hill is slamming her former employer ESPN for the company’s “soft” coverage of UFC President Dana White abusing his wife.

As we reported previously, White was caught on camera repeatedly slapping his wife on New Year’s Eve. The couple, who’ve been married since 1996, has since spoken out about the incident, claiming they were both drunk in the heated moment.

White spoke with TMZ about the physical altercation that occurred during a verbal argument inside a nightclub. In the viral video, White’s wife Anne is seen slapping him first — not that his violent reaction against her was justifiable.

Dana told TMZ in the clip below, “There was definitely a lot of alcohol, but there’s no excuse.”

“The issue isn’t that ESPN has ignored White’s situation entirely. It’s just that the coverage of the incident has overall been pretty soft,” Hill wrote in The Atlantic. “Having worked at ESPN for 12 years, I know intimately the difference between cursory coverage and nonstop national conversation fielded by the massive sports media machine.”

Hill referenced ESPN’s non-stop coverage of Kyrie Irving when the NBA star posted a clip on Twitter that the Jewish community falsely claimed contained many anti-Semitic tropes.

“The most recent example of the latter is the Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving, who became a daily fixture in ESPN’s news coverage and commentary after he was suspended for posting a link on his social media to an anti-Semitic film,” Hill added.

Hill then noted the outpouring of support that White received even after he admitted his actions were wrong.

“The grand irony of all of this is that White doesn’t actually seem eager to accept the graciousness that others are so willing to give him,” Hill continued.

“White isn’t offering any excuses, so why is almost everyone else doing it?” Hill questioned.

Hill’s comments come after former ESPN employee Dan Le Batard noted that the network’s lack of coverage on White is because “they’re compromised here by business interest.”

Comedian D.L. Hughley suggested that “white privilege” is the reason why the media is not making a big fuss about the White controversy.
