*Jamie Foxx denied being a clone after suffering a health scare in April. The Oscar winner accepted the Vanguard Award for speaking at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television: Honoring Black, Latino, and AAPI Achievements in Los Angeles on Monday. Jamie joked, “I know a lot of people who were saying I was cloned out there. Boy, y’all ain’t s—. Black people, when we almost die or go through something like that, there’s two phrases, one of two phrases we say,” he continued. “One is, ‘Lord, have mercy, Jesus. Lord, have mercy, Jesus.'” The actor gave an update on how he is feeling presently and also dropped an interesting detail he experienced during his ordeal, “It feels good to be here. I cherish every single minute now. It’s different. It’s different. I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy, because it’s tough when you almost… When it’s almost over, when you see the tunnel,” he said.“I saw the tunnel. I didn’t see the light!” he added. “It was hot in that tunnel so I didn’t know where I was going. S—, am I going to the right place? I seen the devil goin ‘C’mon, now.’” Hmm. Get right Eric Marlon Bishop!

While out making her media rounds promoting her new film, the musical adaptation of “The Color Purple” Taraji P. Henson told Tracy Smith of “CBS Sunday Morning” that she had to audition for her role as Cookie Lyon for the hit hip-hop melodrama “Empire.” Taraji revealed that while her co-star Terrance Howard did not have to audition for his role as Lucious Lyon, she had to undergo readings. So, in true Cookie fashion, Taraji slapped the heck out of T’s face during an audition. Sorry, not sorry. The Golden Globe winner also revealed how she still has to fight for equal pay because Hollywood still doesn’t respect the talent and labor of Black women. For a town that projects the facade of progressiveness, y’all can do better! Run that lady her coins and Viola Davis, too!

Corey Hawkins, one of the stars of “The Color Purple,” spoke about how he championed Danielle Brooks to have the role of Sofia, popularized by Oprah Winfrey when she first played the character in the original 1985 film. Corey‘s kind words brought Danielle to tears because they were classmates at Juilliard who then struggled to break into the entertainment business and are now co-starring in one of the most anticipated films of 2023. We love to see it!

Webbies, you know what the movie “Home Alone” needed: a nosey Black neighborhood because she would have clocked all the shenanigans, lol! Check out the skit below by comedian Mel Mitchell for a little holiday chuckle.
