*Gayle King is the latest celebrity to warn fans about AI after a scammy company used her voice and likeness to promote a product.

King’s image is manipulated in a deepfake Instagram ad for a company named Artipet. The brand used an AI version of the journalist to sell weight loss services.

In a message to her one million Instagram followers, King told fans, “don’t be fooled by these AI videos.”

“People keep sending me this video and asking about this product and I have NOTHING to do with this company,” King wrote, CNET reports. “I posted this video promoting my radio show on August 31 (swipe to see the original), and they’ve manipulated my voice and video to make it seem like I’m promoting it … I’ve never heard of this product or used it! Please don’t be fooled by these AI videos.”

Tom Hanks and Mr. Beast have also slammed viral videos of AI-generated versions of their likenesses in fake social media advertisements.

“Lots of people are getting this deepfake scam ad of me… are social media platforms ready to handle the rise of AI deepfakes?” Mr. Beast wrote on X (formally Twitter).

Hanks warned that a new ad is circulating using his deepfake imagery.

“Beware!” Hanks wrote on Instagram. “There’s a video out there promoting some dental plan with an AI version of me. I have nothing to do with it.”

In related news, several high-profile authors have partnered with The Authors Guild to sue OpenAI over copyright infringement.

As Daily Mail reports, in a statement to “Good Morning America,” OpenAI said: “We respect the rights of authors and believe they should benefit from AI technology and are working to understand their concerns.”
