*Former DJ and WAND-TV reporter Scot England made his professional boxing debut last week in Nashville, Tennessee, at age 58 and was knocked out in five seconds.

England became the oldest professional welterweight boxer during his first fight on Dec. 5. His opponent, 22-year-old Jashawn Hunter, sealed his victory in five seconds.

“He’s three decades younger than me, he is stronger than me, he is faster than me, he has got more experience than me and he has a longer reach than me,” said England in an interview with Herald and Review newspaper before the fight.

England was a passionate fan of Muhammad Ali as a child and ultimately became friends with the late heavyweight champ.

“The first time I walked into Ali’s living room he said to me ‘Are you a boxer?’ And I said, ‘No, champ, I am not tough enough for that,’” England shared with Herald and Review. “But 40 years later I am tough enough.”

Speaking to the Herald and Review after the bout, England said: “This kid caught me with a fast punch I did not see, and it was a good one, I don’t know if he broke my nose, but my nose is pretty big and cut today; he put me down and I had no idea where I was,” he explained.

“You know, I have no memory of that at all. I thought the ref stopped it when I got back up. And then I looked at the fight video afterwards and said, ‘Man, I kept going for a few more punches and I just don’t recall that part’,” England added.
