Erica Mena Remembers Side Chickin’ for DJ Envy and Phone Call That Ended it | WATCH

*All good things come to an end. And DJ Envy’s affair with Erica Mena was no exception. The kicker was … it was a phone call from the Breakfast Club fixture’s wife Gia that marked the end of years of her (Erica) being the apple of Envy’s eye.

Ask Mena if she knew about Envy’s spouse and she stands by her not knowing a connection existed between them

“I knew about the kids, mind you. I [had] a kid, but I [had] a baby daddy,” the reality TV star, who was a mother of one at the time of the affair, said to Carlos King during a recent interview on “Reality with the King.” “And it’s more common where we come from to have kids, but you’re not married, you just got a baby mama.”

“I knew about the kids, and it was always told to me [that she was] his kid’s mother, never wife. And I didn’t get that realization until I got a phone call from the wife,” Mena added.

Although the situation with Envy could be seen as private, the former “Love & Hip Hop” star maintained they were anything but secret lovers. Remembering times when Envy proudly showed her off and spoiled her and her girlfriends, it was nothing but the alleged “money, gifts [and] trips” Mena experienced in her first relationship after splitting from her eldest child’s father, reports Madame Noire.

“I’m over here—I have never been in this situation. Here’s this man that’s been doting over me, showering me, you know? I’m starting to fall for him, I spent a lot of time with him. This man flew me and all my friends to Miami. We were living our best lives up and down New York City, holding hands. We were very public,” Mena said in the Oct. 14-published chat while revealing she and Envy met through a mutual friend at a strip club.

Envy’s affair with Mena came years after he and Gia got married in 2001. In a February 2013 episode of The Breakfast Club, the radio personality discussed his time cheating on his wife. Mena was not specifically named as Envy’s mistress but that didn’t prevent the DJ from speaking about her in a less-than-stellar manner. An exact timeline surrounding Mena and Envy is unclear, with various sources stating the former duo were together from 2008 to either 2011 or 2013.

“I started messing with somebody that was beneath me,” he said. “A bird. Evil. A liar. Somebody that was desperate, and it’s just so pathetic. I mean I didn’t have to feed this person no food. I didn’t have to make her feel special because she wasn’t. So that’s what it was.”
