*Comedian Dave Chappelle addressed reports that he angered fans during a show in Boston last week when he slammed the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

“Right now, I’m in trouble because the Jewish community is upset,” Chappelle said at his North Carolina show, according to the New York Times. “But I cannot express this enough: No matter what you read about that show in Boston, you will never see quotation marks around anything I said. They don’t know what I said.”

Chappelle noted that it was all “hearsay,” the Times reported.

As Page Six reported, several attendees walked out of last Thursday’s show held at TD Garden in Boston. According to the Wall Street Journal, Chappelle called out Israel’s “war crimes” and accused the Israeli government of killing innocent civilians with the aid of the U.S. government.

One heckler allegedly told Chappelle to “shut up” when he said students should not be denied jobs because they support Palestine.

Several audience members reportedly shouted, “Free Palestine.”

“The audience was cheering Chappelle on during his tirade. I was sick. We were sick. I turned to my friends and wife and said, ‘I think it is time to go,’” one attendee posted on social media, per the Daily Mail.

“The other night, I said something about Palestine in Boston and got misquoted all over the world,” the comedian reportedly said at his North Carolina show, according to the New York Times. “But I cannot express this enough: No. “And I will not repeat what I said.”

When a woman in the audience shouted, “Free Palestine,” Chappelle said, “Please, please, miss. Listen. Don’t start it up or I’m going to be in the news cycle for another week. This thing that’s happening in the Middle East is bigger than everybody.”

Chapelle called the situation between Israel and Palestine a “nightmare.”

“There’s only two kinds of people in the world: people who love other people and the people that have things to make them afraid to love other people. Pray for everyone in Israel. Pray for everyone in Palestine,” he said, the Times reported.
