CNN Eyeing Gayle King to Host Primetime Show: Report

*CNN boss Chris Licht wants veteran media personality Gayle King to host a weekly primetime show to help boost ratings.

As The New York Post reports, Licht wants King to co-host a weekly show on CNN and it would not affect her day job at CBS, according to Puck News.

“Chris has talked to dozens and dozens of people to gauge interest in potential projects at CNN,” a rep for CNN told The Post.

Licht told the Los Angeles Times that he is “in conversations with relevant individuals from the worlds of entertainment, sports and comedy who can bring fresh and unique perspectives to the news” to fill the network’s 9 p.m. slot.

Gayle King – CBS News

King renewed her contract with CBS last year and shared the exciting news on her SiriusXM radio show.

“I called my favorite daughter Kirby, favorite son Will, and called Oprah of course… and said I just signed with CBS today,” King said at the time. “I officially signed on the dotted line.”

King reportedly earns around $9 million a year as an anchor on “CBS Mornings.” When she celebrated her 10-year anniversary as a presenter on the show, previously called “CBS This Morning,” King addressed speculation about her future with the network.

“I just celebrated my 10 years at CBS. I have long history… long history there. And you know, there’s lots of speculation about ‘what Gayle’s gonna do, where is she gonna go?’ … ‘Is she being courted?’ The answer was yes,” King said previously about reports of other networks trying to lure her away from CBS. “You know, ‘she has a grandchild, does she wanna move to California?’ The answer is no. I mean, I don’t know why people thought that just because you have a grandchild now all of a sudden you just want to give up your career and go sit in California… I still feel that in many ways I’m just getting started.”
