*Boxing superstar Gervonta Davis recently purchased nine properties in Baltimore for renovation. Days later, the homes burned down.
As Complex reports, Davis’ trainer, Calvin Ford, shared footage online of the burned-out buildings. Many social media users are convinced that this was a deliberate arson attack on a Black man trying to build up his community.Â
Last week, Davis, 29, returned to his childhood neighborhood to buy a nine-house block in Sandtown-Winchester through his organization, GTD Development. He planned to turn the property into affordable housing for the Baltimore community.Â
“I definitely want to thank everybody that was included and helped us make this happen,” Davis said at a press conference, Talk Sport reports.Â
“I feel as though when I was coming up, we didn’t have somebody to be hands-on with us,” he added.

“Tank, when he goes around the world, he literally carries the city of Baltimore on his back,” Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby said at the press conference.
“For you to come back, invest in your hometown, invest in your community, and invest in your block – is truly, truly special,” Mosby added.
On Instagram, one person commented, “Congrats to Tank but also the coaches that have been by his side since he was a child!! @coachkennyellis and @coachcalvinford are legends in Baltimore!”
“Amazing inside the ring and outside the ring. ‘Tank’ is more than an athlete now. He’s a role model, and this is only the beginning of his story,” another IG user wrote, per Talk Sport.
Davis’ net worth is reportedly $4million.
