*With Season 2 of “The Game” recently premiering, the cast is dishing on what plots and themes from last season will continue to unfold this time around.
Vaughn Hebron and Adriyan Rae star in the Paramount+ series as Jamison Fields and Brittany Pitts (the daughter of “The Game” star, Jason Pitts). In the series, Jamison and Brittany are dating each other, however, leaving off in the season one finale, Jamison’s past lover comes back to shake things up.
“His [Jamison] past pops their head in again,” Hebron said. “That makes him rethink some things. Reminisce some things. It makes him question his present. Getting over your ex is a hard thing sometimes. Also with Brittany, he just has to figure out if he’s going to do this by himself or if he’s going to do this with her.”
Aside from their relationship, Jamison and Brittany also face hardships in their personal lives and in their careers. For Jamison especially because after finally getting a chance to play in the league with the ‘Fightin Fury’, the team goes on an indefinite strike as they fight for better health and mental health care for the players. Jamison partakes in the strike even though all he really wants to do is play football.

“With the strike, there’s people on both sides of it,” Hebron said. “Audience and athletes alike who feel like they should play and feel like they shouldn’t play. Jamison has the tough decision to make about where he will place himself in that decision. He finally realized his dream. He was finally here. He’s had this dream all his life and it was the only thing that got him through his prison time.”
Hebron added, “The only driving force behind getting out of jail, putting himself back out there and attempting to do this. He finally realized it, then they say, “hey you can’t actually do it yet.” It’s a hard pill to swallow to finally get to the actual playing field. You’re here. It’s still a tough pill to swallow for him. He’s going to have a journey to actually realizing that.”
For Brittany, her hardships come in her career as Tasha Mack’s (Wendy Raquel Robinson) assistant and trying to make her father, Jason Pitts, proud.
“I think career obstacles with Brittany are things just basically about her morals,” Rae said. “Will her morals keep her or will her morals hold her back, and what does she truly do it for? Does she do it for herself? Does she do it for her father? Does she do it for validation? What is the purpose? Getting to that so she can truly know what her voice is and what she really wants.”
Rae noted that “Mainly the obstacles of Brittany are self. Self obstacles”
“Is she going to get out her own way, or not? She has everything she needs, she’s so resourceful. She’s an entrepreneur to her heart, creative and quick-witted. I think that she can just really take over anything she wants,” Rae said.
The obstacles Brittany Pitts faced in season one may have been the foundation needed to set the groundwork for her career journey in season two.
“Brittany learned in season one, that it’s okay to depend on the right people,” Rae said. “It is okay to truly be yourself. I think that she’s learning what her-self is. As she journeys it, there are things that she figures out she’s like, “that’s not how I am so no. Or yeah, this is what I want to do. What I want to do as Brittany, not as Jason Pitt’s daughter.” That’s really the essence of it.”
