*Media personality Van Jones, who many have written off as a “bootlick” and “sellout,” is catching heat after apologizing to the Jewish people for Black people’s silence on Kanye West’s anti-Semitic controversy.

Jones made the remarks at the UJA-Federation of New York Wall Street Dinner on Tuesday (Dec. 6). According to multiple reports, Jones issued “an apology for the silence of my community” and for allowing “an African American icon praising Hitler and Nazis, and we act like we don’t know where that hatred came from,” he said.

Jones noted that “the silence is over.”

“The reason this country is a democracy at all is because Black and Jewish people have loved each other, and helped each other, and supported each other, and stood up for each other,” he told the audience in a video from the event.

Black Twitter users were quick to react to Jones’ remarks, with one person commenting “Ye doesn’t represent all Black people…When have y’all ever seen a White celebrity, news reporter, etc. apologize on behalf of the wyte supremacists who murdered Ahmaud Arbery, etc..”

Another said, “Black dudes like VJ still don’t get it. Why is Kanye West put off on an entire black race or off on black Americans at the very least as our representative? Why isn’t Ye his own person? Why is every black person made to be the keeper of each and every black person? That’s racist!

“Jewish people don’t even like black people…why would we speak up ?” someone else added as reported by Ace Showbiz. “When do Jews speak up for us? No disrespect, what was said during BLM?” another user tweeted. One commenter said, “Don’t speak for me! Where was this energy when he disrespected GEORGE FLOYDS FAMILY?! Or when everyone overlooks slavery & expects us to get over it?!”

One Twitter user wrote, “Why the F is he apologizing for what someone else did? And who appointed him as some black leader or representative?”

“Van Jones doesn’t speak for Black people but chooses to throw the entirety of Black America under the bus to get claps,” commented another.

Bishop Talbert Swan tweeted, “Van Jones apologized to the Jewish community for the “silence” of Black people regarding comments by Kanye West. No one from the Jewish community has apologized to Black people for the silence of Jewish people regarding the systemic murder and oppression of Black people.”

When a Twitter user noted that “Jews have done more and been more of an ally to the black community than any other group,” another person clapped back with: “Oh, you must mean by exploiting Black People’s labor, talent, ideas, freedom, and culture for the enrichment of Jewish males? If that’s what you mean by “doing more” and “being an ally” please stay the hell away from us! Go use your manipulative, exploitative, tactics elsewhere.”
