*Al Sharpton is responding to Deion Sanders haters after the former NFLer quit his head coach position at Jackson State for Colorado earlier this month.

“I think that a lot of us had such pride in him being at an HBCU that we forget that people make personal decisions,” Sharpton told TMZ. “And they have the right to do that.”

Sanders has been labeled a “sellout” for leaving HBCU Jackson State to coach at the University of Colorado. The former NFLer was officially announced as Colorado’s next head coach on Sunday, Yahoo reports.

“He’s moved on and I think that our job is to make sure that Jackson State and others continue at the same level,” Sharpton said.

Sanders’ son Shedeur, current quarterback for Jackson State, will be leading the Colorado team next fall.

“It ain’t gonna be no more of a mess that these wonderful fans, the student body and some of your parents have put up with for probably two decades now. I’m coming, and when I get here, it’s gonna be changed,” Sanders told the Colorado football players upon his arrival to Boulder on Sunday.

“So I want y’all to get ready to go ahead and jump in the portal and do whatever you’re gonna get because if more of you jump in, the more room you make,” he continued. Watch the moment via the Twitter clip below.

“This is pathetic – I went from admiration to disappointment- this is no way to talk to student-athletes who have given more to that university than sanders dreamed – just pathetic,” said one Twitter user in response to Deion’s speech to the players.
