TV Africa Eyes US Launch via Roku and Amazon Fire Stick

*TV Africa, based in Accra, Ghana, and currently airing in 42 African countries, has revealed that it is currently implementing plans to bring their programming to the United States market by early 2021 at the latest. Network executives have eyed a major opportunity to reach the African diaspora in the U.S., and deliver content to them that connects them with people, news, and original programming that is authentically African.

The network initially launched in its home country of Ghana in 1995, and has steadily grown to reach televisions in the majority of the African continent. With the maturation of streaming platforms and the relative ease of entry for new networks, TV Africa studied the American market and realized that the time to make their move had arrived.

“It is time that we unite our people worldwide. TV Africa is in the unique position to reintroduce our brothers and sisters across the sea back to their original culture, while at the same time reintroducing Africans to their long lost family in America” said Ekow Blankson, Managing director of TV Africa.

Currently, there are no Africa-based networks airing their programming in the US, either via cable or streaming service. Since the start of the new millennium, the number of African immigrants living in the United States has more than doubled, creating a growing need for a TV network that delivers programming that appeals to the African diaspora.

Blankson also said that TV Africa will be providing regular updates as the launch of the network on Roku and Amazon Fire Stick in the United States draws closer. He did share that the network is currently in the planning phases for a whole host of new, original content and that they will be putting out an official request for submissions for new show scripts and concepts.
