Patrick Ewing: Ex-NBAer, Georgetown Coach Hospitalized with COVID-19

*NBC News is reporting that ex-NBAer great and current Georgetown University coach Patrick Ewing announced Friday night that he is hospitalized after testing positive for coronavirus.

“I have tested positive for COVID-19,” said Ewing in a statement. “This virus is serious and should not be taken lightly. I want to encourage everyone to stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.”

This virus is serious and should not be taken lightly,” Ewing said in a statement. “I want to encourage everyone to stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Now more than ever, I want to thank the healthcare workers and everyone on the front lines. I’ll be fine and we will all get through this.

Following his famed NBA playing career, Ewing, 57, took over as Georgetown’s head coach in 2017 after spending 15 years as an assistant coach for four different NBA franchises.

He just completed his third season as head basketball coach at his alma mater. No other members of that team or staff have tested positive, Georgetown said.

Coach Ewing has been isolated at a local hospital, according to the school.
