*For six seasons we watched Naturi Naughton portray Tasha St. Patrick on the hit STARZ crime drama “Power.” She is reprising the role in the first of four planned spinoffs, “Power Book II: Ghost.”
The action kicks off less than 48 hours after the murder of her ex-husband James St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick.) Tasha has been arrested for the crime, covering for the real murderer, her son Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.)
Tariq is now responsible for holding the family down while maintaining a 3.5 GPA in college, in order to gain access to his inheritance.
He is forced to split time between school and hustling to pay for Davis MacLean (Method Man.) A fame-hungry defense lawyer who is Tasha’s only hope at getting out of jail.

A familiar face is prosecuting the case, newly minted U.S. Attorney Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson.) Tariq turns to the familiar drug game, after being introduced to a cutthroat family headed by Monet Stewart Tejada (Mary J. Blige.)
EURweb’s Jill Munroe talked with Naturi Naughton about Tasha’s journey, what we can expect from her in this new series and those dedicated “Power” fans.
On Tasha’s story arc:
It’s been an amazing journey. A bumpy, roller coaster ride as the character of Tasha. One minute she’s glammed in hair and make-up, in Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford. Now she’s in an orange jumpsuit with no wig, corn rows and she ain’t got no lashes. So, it’s a lot. One thing I will say, is that as an actress, for a role to have such a great trajectory and a journey, means that I’m not just in box. The way Courtney (Kemp) has written this character, even though initially some people thought, ‘she’s just the gold digging wife that wants the money.’ She stood by that man, Ghost and she fought for her family. She did whatever it took, even now going to prison for her son for killing Ghost. It’s been an exciting journey as an actress.
What can fans expect as far as Tasha’s development in Power Book II: Ghost?
Tasha has always been a boss. She is a criminal, she will do what it takes. She’s in prison, so just expect that just because she’s down and behind bars, doesn’t mean she can’t get stuff done. So fans can expect to see how power can translate no matter where you are. If you take back your power at home, at this facility… wherever it is, you can find a way to be powerful no matter where you are. That’s what fans should expect to see from Tasha, and how she manipulates different pieces of the puzzle to her benefit.
Power Book II: Ghost debuts Sunday, September 6 on STARZ.
