*Kerry Washington and her Simpson Street production company have renewed an overall TV deal with ABC Studios for three more years.

Washington will work on projects for broadcast, cable and streaming, TheWrap reports.

“Since its inception, Simpson Street has focused on using art and entertainment to amplify the human experience and weave narratives that honor our unique differences while connecting us through our shared humanity,” the actress said in a statement. “I’m so proud of the foundation we’ve laid, and I am excited to extend our partnership with Jonnie Davis and the extraordinary team at ABC Studios who have shared in our vision from the very beginning.”

Washington recently received multiple Emmy nominations, including for starring and EPing Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere” and Netflix’s film “American Son.” She also bagged an executive producer nomination for ABC’s special “Live In Front of a Studio Audience.”

“Kerry has so much in common with her iconic character, Olivia Pope–she’s brilliant, talented and makes everything better,” said Jonnie Davis, President, ABC Studios. “From ‘Scandal’ to ‘Little Fires Everywhere,’ we’re consistently impressed by her incredible talent both in front of and behind the camera. She’s built a powerhouse team at Simpson Street, headed by the remarkable Pilar Savone. We’re proud and grateful they have made ABC Studios their creative home.”

During her appearance on “The View” Friday, the actress talked about the upcoming election and emphasized the importance of voters casting ballots for local politicians, ABC News reports.

“We tend to get really excited around presidential elections and this is undoubtedly a really, really important election. The most important election of any of our lifetimes, I would argue,” Washington said. “We need to remember that change happens on many levels.”

She noted the decisions made on a local level about issues people “care about.”

“I worry that people don’t feel like who they vote for as president has an impact. Who you vote for as president has a tremendous impact, but also, you have an opportunity to vote for judges, and [district attorneys], and sheriffs … and school board leaders. People who make real day-to-day decisions in your community,” she added.
