We are seeing positive signs in respect to lower hospitalizations and the number of people on ventilators, but all of these gains can be easily lost if we ignore the stay at home order & social distancing guidelines,” Gov. John Bel Edwards wrote on Twitter on April 16. Do your part. Be a good neighbor. Stay home.”

Birdman is the latest celebrity to help out those most affect by this deadly COVID-19 contagion.

SNL star Michael Che previously shared that his grandma died of COVID-19. Now he is helping low income New Yorkers with rent in her honor.

“It’s crazy to me that residents of public housing are still expected to pay their rent when so many New Yorkers can’t even work,” Che said on Instagram last week, adding that he’s stepping up to provide #rentrelif for all the residents in his grandmother’s former New York City apartment.

“Obviously I can’t offer much help by myself,” he continued. “But in the spirit and memory of my late grandmother, I’m paying one month’s rent for all 160 apartments in the NYCHA building she lived in.”

“I know that’s just a drop in the bucket,” he added. “So I really hope the city has a better plan for debt forgiveness for all the people in public housing, AT THE VERY LEAST.”
