*ATLANTA – Well known film and TV actress Drew Sidora has filed a lawsuit against Houston based promoter of the stage play, Set It Off.”

About three weeks ago, fans watched in horror as Sidora’s achilles was torn during a performance of the hit stage production “Set It Off” at the Cobb Energy Center in the Atlanta area. The play is produced by Houston based Promoter Je’Caryous Johnson of Je’Caryous Johnson Entertainment, L.L.C.

The complaint was filed in the Atlanta, Georgia area where Sidora lives and claims negligence and invasion of privacy among other counts against the promoter and his company.

Sidora is known worldwide for her role as Chantel in the Disney Channel series “That’s So Raven” and starred as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins in the critically VH1 TLC biographical film CrazySexyCool.”   She recently had a role BET’s highly watched “The Game.”

“My client is very well known and was seriously injured. Thus, she will not be able to work for quite some time due to the negligence of this promoter,” said Attorney James L. Walker, Jr., based in Atlanta.

Last month, Sidora underwent emergency surgery to repair the injury and is currently recovering at home and seeks over a million dollars in damages.

“This is horrible and I cannot believe that Mr. Johnson, nor his team have reached out to my client to make sure she is safe, sound and recovering well,” added Walker, who takes on a select number of high profile cases each year and calls this case “one of the most egregious examples of negligence.”

“We filed a complaint and will be taking all legal necessary steps if we cannot resolve this in the immediate future with the promoter and all parties involved,” he added, referring to Promoter Je’Caryous Johnson and the promoter’s company “Je’Caryous Johnson Entertainment, L.L.C.

Per Doctor’s orders, Sidora advised ‘Set It Off’ Producer Johnson that she was unable to perform upcoming dates — but would resume her role once medical clearance is received.

Johnson, without a phone call to Sidora or any compassion, allegedly responded by terminating her contract altogether, preventing Sidora from returning to the stage in her starring role alongside Da Brat, Lil Mo and Keisha Knight Pulliam.

”I never thought I wouldn’t hear from the promoter after getting injured on stage. I really wanted to continue the play and looked forward to returning” Sidora explained. “I thank everyone for their support, for coming out to see the play in the past couple of weeks and I root for all my castmates.”

Walker added, “The evilness of that act of pulling an injured woman from the play, is so cruel and ruthless, considering how kind and professional Drew has been throughout the production. She and her family have gone above and beyond to support Mr. Johnson and this major play (“Set It Off”). She is very disappointed at this current time, not to be invited back to closing night or be able to support her fellow castmates like Da Brat, Lil Mo and Keisha Knight Pulliam, among others…”

Sidora asked all to keep her in prayer as she recovers from this tough injury and the pain associated with the injury.
