According to reports, the rapper, real name Lawrence Franks Jr, was gunned down in a double shooting in his hometown of Kinloch, Missouri just before 11pm, the St Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
He was shot at least once outside the front yard of a home on Martin Luther King Boulevard and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said.
A second man, 21, who was injured in the incident later showed up at the Ferguson Police Department with a gunshot wound.
He was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
As of Friday morning, St Louis County Police said they are actively investigating the shooting but did not release details about a possible motive and no arrests have been made.
