*The Urban One Honors recently aired on TV One. The awards show was a celebration of the best in music, TV and film, plus a special honor for Radio One and it’s founder Cathy Hughes’ 40-years in radio as the first African-American woman to head a publicly-traded company.
The evening was sponsored by AT&T Dream in Black, and presented by TV One and Radio One. Hughes also hosted along with Comedian/actor Chris Tucker. The star-studded night included the likes of; FX “Pose” stars Billy Porter and Ryan Jamall Swain, Jamie Foxx, Missy Elliot, Lil Kim, Da Brat, celebrity siblings Brandy and Ray J, Anita Baker, Ne-Yo, Wale, Chance the Rapper and Epic Records CEO & Chairman Sylvia Rhone.
In keeping with one of the themes of the evening – empowering women – Ford made an impact on the awards show. Their “Built Phenomenally” campaign was featured during the show. It’s a celebration of Black women that was created the launch of the all-new 2020 Ford Escape
The campaign is a celebration of black women that was created by and for black women, with women of color serving in all major roles of the production – director, copywriter, stylist, makeup, cinematographer.
Jill Munroe attend the show as a guest of Ford and spoke with Dibrie Guerrero, multicultural marketing manager for the Ford Motor Company, about the importance of supporting positive portrayals of African American women in media and advertising.
“As black women continue to grow and influence culture, Ford is committed to supporting their empowered future with products and services that meet and anticipate their needs.”
She also gave us the scoop on what to look forward to in the 2020 Ford Escape.
