THE REAL Welcomes MSNBC’s Joy-Ann Reid and R&B Singer Tank Performs ‘Our Song!’ – WATCH

*On Thursday, October 17, the ladies of The Real discuss the benefits of going to therapy with siblings to help deal with family dramas.

And, while confessing to the “brokest” things that they have ever done while being financially down on their luck, co-host Adrienne Houghton recalls the frugal steps she used to take to attend red carpet events early in her career.

Then, author and MSNBC anchor Joy-Ann Reid stops by to join in on a segment of Girl Chat to give her opinion on turning haters’ negative comments into corrective criticisms and tips for self-improvement.  Joy-Ann also reveals how she is actually grateful for a recent disparaging tweet towards her from President Trump that helped with sales of her new book, The Man Who Sold America: Trump and the Unraveling of the American Story.

Later, Grammy-nominated R&B singer and songwriter Tank pays a visit with his wife, Zena Foster.  He performs his new single “Our Song” and gushes about how Zena helped him write it.

Joy-Ann Reid Thanks President Trump For His Tweet About Her

Jeannie Mai: How does it feel to have the president of the United States tweeting about you like that?

Joy-Ann Reid: You know, it’s weird, and when I…

Jeannie: In a disrespectful way, by the way.

Joy-Ann: Absolutely. Um, well, first of all, shouts out to Chrissy Teigen. I feel like now we should be best friends.

(The Real hosts and audience laugh & applaud)

Joy-Ann: We should hang out.

Jeannie: You guys should start a club.

Joy-Ann: Yeah, we should start a club, right? And the reality is, I think that normally, if as an individual citizen, if the president of the United States is attacking you in any way personally, normally it would be kind of terrifying and intimidating. And you would think, wow, this is the whole full weight of the state coming at me, just one individual person. But with Trump, it’s a little bit different.  We were just talking about hating, right? We were talking about the fact that… he kind of trolls. Like what he does most of the time, when not golfing or doing other things, is he’s trolling. And so, in a way, because he’s made the presidency a lot more kind of basic and a lot less grand and a lot less presidential in a lot of ways…

Jeannie: Escalating? Yeah.

Joy-Ann: Right. So, in a lot of ways, it was just like being trolled. So, that made me a little sad. And it kinda felt just like a troll.

Loni Love:  And it’s just what we were just talking about. A hater. A hater that’s doing, you know, name-calling and not constructive. You know, he name-calls a lot. So, that’s really a hater-hater. You know, that not like what we normally say. But the timing of his tweet was actually kinda perfect with you for, you know, promoting your book. Don’t you think?

Joy-Ann: Yeah. Well, it’s funny because my producer, we started adding up my Twitter followers. And in the two hours after he tweeted me, I got 4,000 new Twitter followers. I started going up on the Amazon sales list. So, I thank you, Mr. President?
