Scottie Pippen Sparks Online Debate After Saying LeBron ‘Might Be Better’ Than Jordan

LeBron James

*NBA Hall-of-Famer Scottie Pippen pissed off many NBA fans with comments he made on ESPN’s “First Take” on Thursday while discussing LeBron James’ place in NBA history.

Pippen compared LeBron’s legacy to that of Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, and argued that James falls short because he lacks Jordan’s “clutch gene,” per Daily Caller.

“When I look at LeBron, he’s not what Michael (Jordan) was as a player. He’s not even what Kobe was as a player,” Pippen said. “When you talk about trying to compare Michael’s instinct, his ability to take over games, his ability to want to take that last shot, LeBron doesn’t have that gene.”

Twitter user Chris Hackett responded to the comment by noting: “Scottie Pippen might be the biggest dick boy in sports, his bias for Jordan might be comparable to Michael Irvin’s bias for the cowgirls”

@taylor23941727 said: “Hatin ass Scottie Pippen. You weren’t Jordan or Kobe either You were a role player to Jordan.”

Famed sports commentator Skip Bayless added: “I see where Scottie Pippen said on First Take what I started saying on ESPN in 2006: LeBron James just doesn’t have “the clutch gene,” as I started calling it. Appreciate that, Scottie. So true.”

One of Skip’s followers responded: “Jordan was good but don’t try and talk lebron down like he’s not great. Anyone could make the case Jordan was playing against skip bayless almost every game.”

Another commenter agreed with Pippen, however, writing:  “100% agreed. He doesn’t have what MJ or Kobe possesses. Don’t get in your feelings. It’s the truth.”
