An interfaith coalition of, Latino, African-American, Muslim and Jewish activist groups is denouncing President Donald Trump for his racist rhetoric which helped inflame a young white man who’s responsible for the mass shootings in El Paso Texas. This is clearly a case of domestic terrorism.
“Trump didn’t pull the trigger but is clearly responsible for the racist violence in an atmosphere he’s created in our nation,” stated activist Arturo Flores.
There was another mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio where 9 people were murdered by another young white man and 26 others were injured.
Our coalition is calling for Congressmember Karen Bass and other members of Congress to establish a Domestic terrorism statue to help the FBI apprehend homegrown white terrorists. It’s important that Homeland security officials turn their attention away from Muslim Americans and focus on the white homegrown terrorists who are anti-Jewish, anti-immigrant and anti-African-American. There needs to be increased funding by Homeland security officials for community groups to help stop white terrorists.
“FBI Director Christopher Wray told the U.S. Senate a week ago that most domestic terrorist arrests in 2019 thus far have involved white nationalism. A shooter who aimed to attack ‘as many Mexicans as possible,’ killed 20 at a Walmart in El Paso, on Saturday,” said Najee Ali, CEO of Project Islamic Hope. “I agree with the FBI director the number one threat to our country is white domestic terrorism encouraged by Trump.”
