Donald Trump Presents Golf Champ Tiger Woods with Presidential Medal of Freedom [WATCH]

*Donald Trump was true to his word and presented Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in a ceremony at the White House’s Rose Garden on Monday.

Woods was joined by his mother, his two children, girlfriend Erica Herman, and longtime caddie, Joe LaCava, Complex reports.

“Tiger Woods is a global symbol of American excellence, devotion and drive,” Trump said of Woods, per NPR. “These qualities embody the American spirit of pushing boundaries, defying limits and always striving for greatness.”

Following Tiger’s sensational comeback win at the Masters Tournament last month, Trump hit up Twitter to announce plans to present the golfing champ with the nation’s highest civilian honor.

“Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday’s @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!” Trump tweeted.

Woods has been a good pal of Trump for years, and he even designed the course at the Trump World Golf Club in Dubai, according to Complex.

“You’ve seen the good and bad, the highs and lows, and I would not be in this position without all of your help,” an emotional Woods said of his family, per to ESPN.

When Woods was previously asked about his relationship with Trump, he noted that it’s important to “respect the office.”

“Well, he’s the president of the United States. You have to respect the office,” Tiger said, according to ESPN. “No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”

“I’ve known Donald for a number of years,” added Tiger. “We’ve played golf together. We’ve had dinner together.”
