THE REAL Welcomes Tyler Perry and Tamera’s Plan to Have the ‘Sex Talk’ With Her Son

On Monday, Oct. 14, the ladies of The Real discuss whether the threat of being sued by a scorned spouse will deter more people from cheating in their marriage.

Also, co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley talks about how she is already planning for the day when she has to have the sex talk with her son Aden… she’s afraid that it may happen sooner that she’d like!

Then, co-host Adrienne Houghton talks about the number one pet-peeve she has when hosting a party that her fellow co-host Loni Love is admittedly guilty of doing!

Later, actor, producer and director Tyler Perry drops by to talk about his new shows The Oval and Sistas, the historical opening of his studio in Atlanta, how he is able to balance his personal life with his career, and the cathartic lesson he learned when disciplining his five year old son.

Tyler Perry Talks About Disciplining His Five Year Old Son

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Your son is going to be five in November.

Tyler Perry: Oh my God, yeah.  Yep.

Tamera: So cute.  Does he know who you are? And do you think he will ever want to become an actor?

Tyler: Uh, I don’t know. I’m encouraging him to be who he is.  You know, I want him to be who he is. And he’s so creative, he loves music, he loves to play. But, he just loves me. And the thing about it is, he don’t care what, who I am in the room, he’s climbing all over me…

Tamera: Yeah, you’re Dad.

Tyler: He wants to have conversa- yea, conversations. I’m his jungle gym, he’s all over me. Those things matter. That’s what matters.

Tamera: That’s the best.

Tyler: He centers everything. He makes everything stop for me. I literally stop with him. But, I’ll tell you this one moment that was really hard for me. I had to discipline him.  Do we have time?

ALL: Yes!

Tyler: I had to discipline him. He was being really…

Loni Love: You can tell he’s a producer.  Look at him. “We got time?”

Adrienne Houghton: Caring about the time.

Tyler: He was really rude to the nanny. He was in the room with her, in the bathroom arguing.  Gelila calls me and I go in there and get down to his level and I’m talking to him eye-to-eye. And I was all like, “Listen. What are you doing? We don’t behave this way.  You don’t do this. This is unacceptable. You’re not gonna disrespect her. You’re not gonna disrespect your mom.  You’re gonna do what they say to do. And do you understand that?” He’s just crying and going, “Yes Papa. Yes Papa.” But as he’s crying and I’m down on his level, I’m trying to hold my tears. So, I get up and I leave out of the room and Gelila said, “You okay?” because nobody talked to me as a five year old like that. Nobody had a conversation with me. Nobody talked to me like a person. So, here I am having an opportunity to heal my little boy self by talking to my son like a person.

Loni: Wow.

Tyler: Beautiful moment.
