*A throwback video of hitmaker Timbaland has emerged and it has many giving him the side-eye for comments he made about Aaliyah back in the day.
The clip comes on the heels of Lifetime’s 3-part “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary and shows the iconic music producer expressing his feelings for the late singer.
In a 2011 episode of “E! True Hollywood Story,” Timbaland admitted he was sexually attracted to Aaliyah when they first met during the recording of her sophomore album. She was 16 and he was 23.
“When I first met Aaliyah—it’s time for the world to hear this, I’m gonna give a little secret—I was in love with her,” Timbaland said in the resurfaced video. “I said, ‘She [is] just a baby, I’m old. I’m just gonna be her brother. Oh man, I was fightin’, I was fightin’ a lot—a big war. But I loved Aaliyah.”

Timbaland also admitted to marrying his wife, Monique Idlett, because she resembled the late songstress.
“When I first met my wife, I knew I was going to marry her because she looked like Aaliyah,” he said.
Aaliyah was 22 years old and celebrating the release of her third album when she died in a plane crash in the Bahamas.
At the time, Emil Wilbekin, editor-in-chief of Vibe magazine, said:
“Aaliyah really represented for young people someone who was very hard working, someone who was very driven, someone who had this dream being a great entertainer, a singer and an actress. And at the young age of 22, was actually achieving those dreams and was extremely successful.”
