*Funnyman Gary Owen took a cue from Mo’Nique and posted his own video about the problem has with not being hired by Telemundo and is asking for people to boycott the Spanish network.
But it’s all a veiled parody of Mo’Nique’s situation. We’ve got more to tell and even show you with Gary doing his shtick … at Mo’s expense.
But first! Speaking of Mo’Nique …
For the last week or two, the funny lady has been front and center on social media and news sites because of her calling for a boycott of Netflix. She’s primarily pissed at the streaming network because they offered her relative chump change ($500,000), but seemingly bent over backwards to give Amy Schumer $11 million for her special.
Yesterday Mo’ switched up and decided to throw some shade Oprah Winfrey’s way in light of the hype surrounding Lady O’s potential presidential run. Mo’Nique says throughout the years, Oprah has not shown a lot of support for black women.
“See everybody talking Oprah Winfrey for president and we are rallying behind her” Mo’Nique said. “The black women are saying yeah yeah yeah but let me ask y’all a question. when does she ever rally behind us? What award show does she get up on the stage and say hashtag me too?”
If you’ve been observing the comedian/actress, you’re aware of the previous hate she’s demonstrated for Winfrey. As we reported, earlier this year, Mo’Nique blasted Oprah, Lee Daniels and Tyler Perry, for “whiteballing” her in the entertainment industry because she is outspoken.

Speaking of Mo’Nique’s issues with Netflix, a non-sympathetic Gary Owens jokingly, we think, took to the ‘Gram to let folks know that he too has suffered racial and cultural bias.
“Hello, my loves. I would like all of you to join me in boycotting Telemundo.” Owens said mimicking the opening of Mo’Nique’s video. “Recently I pitched a comedy special, and they said no due to racial, gender and language bias. They said they’re a Spanish speaking network and I don’t speak Spanish. So, they wouldn’t give me special.”
