So what’s the new film, “Tyler Perry’s Acrimony,” starring Taraji P. Henson, all about, you’re wondering?
Well, it focuses on the story of wife Melinda, played by Henson, and her husband, Robert, played by Lyriq Bent.
Melinda tells her (offscreen) therapist about how their 18-year marriage is falling apart due to her husband’s double life and cheating ways.
In the story, as usual, when they first meet, they start dating and end up being married, and at first it’s all good. But then Melinda begins to suspect that something is wrong. She follows her husband and discovers that he was leading a double life and was even engaged to another woman.
Meanwhile, her therapist points out that she might be looking at things the wrong way, and that’s when the story/relationship morphs into the real dark side. Now Melinda is losing it at Robert, accusing him of having “caused all of this.” In the trailer she is seen wigging out at Robert when he appears to be moving out, and then again needing to be restrained in a courtroom.
This one is obviously not your typical Tyler Perry Madea comedy. If the trailer and the poster are any indication, it could be a good one.
“Tyler Perry’s Acrimony” opens March 30 in theaters throughout North America.
