*One of the many highlights of today’s massive March for Our Lives rally in Washington, DC was 9-year-old Yolanda Renee King, the granddaughter of civil rights icon, Martin Luther King Jr.
Miss King walked out with Marjory Stoneman Douglas student Jaclyn Corin, 17, and gave her own version of her grandfather’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Changing it up somewhat, she told the crowd her dream is that when it comes to guns in our country — “Enough is enough!”
Yolanda then led the humongous assembly in a stirring chant in unison, not once, not twice — but 3 times … and the crowd had no problem following along.
Another instance of note was when a second young black girl, Naomi Wadler of Alexandria Virginia, spoke on behalf of all the black women and girls who lo are often forgotten or dismissed during these discussions.
“I am here to represent the African-American women who are victims of gun violence, who are simply statistics instead of vibrant, beautiful girls full of potential,” the 11-year-old said with a wisdom well beyond her years.

Saturday’s rally in D.C. was led by students of Parkland, Florida to demand gun control in the wake of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High last month.
In fact, over 800 “sibling marches” took place all over the world – in an impressive show of solidarity – anchored by the main event in the U.S. capital. Their mission was simple: provide a platform for students, teachers, parents and other members of the public to make their pleas for gun control and school-safety measures heard.
