*Over the weekend, Mariah Carey infuriated many fans when she posed for a photo with former NFL player Colin Kaepernick.
Many Americans resist Kaepernick’s overall message of equality and they take great offense at him using the NFL games to protest racial injustice by taking a knee during the national anthem.
“It was “such an honor to meet @kaepernick7 today!” Carey declared on Instagram.

Many fans were thrilled by the meeting of the two pop cultural icons, referring to Carey and Kaepernick as “legends.”
“Beautiful pair right there!!! Great minds attract GREAT minds. And if people don’t like it….question them, not yourself,” one comment read.
A debate erupted in the comments about why sharing the same space as Kaepernick is “an honor” and whether his political protests are disrespectful. Fans also referenced Carey’s alleged mixed-race heritage to defend of their idol.

Carey, meanwhile, can’t be bothered feeling pressed by the criticism, as she’s enjoying the recent release of her 15th studio album and prepping for an upcoming world tour that kicks off in February.
