It’s Over in Georgia Gubernatorial Race; Stacey Abrams Ends Challenge Against Brian Kemp

Even though Abrams has called it quits, she said she would not concede the contest to Kemp, the GOP’s candidate in the hard-fought, racially charged contest.

She slammed Kemp, a former secretary of state who she said was “deliberate and intentional in his actions” to suppress the vote, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

“I will not concede because the erosion of our democracy is not right,” she said.

The Democrat was considering a long-shot legal challenge under a law that allows losing candidates to contest the election in the case of misconduct, fraud or “irregularities,” the Atlanta news outlet also reported,

The Associated Press reports Abrams’ team amassed nearly three dozen lawyers to draft a petition to the Supreme Court, along with affidavits from voters and would-be voters who argue they were illegally disenfranchised during the election on Nov. 6.
